The 2Strings program
You know your community better than anyone else: its values, its culture, its spirit and its vibrancy. But, we bet that there is a community not that far down the road from yours of people with a different culture, ethnicity, religion, political leaning, language or socio-economic composition. Our program is a 4-hour curriculum designed to give your world the tools to strengthen itself, its connections and its members.
-
Our program is broken up into 3 stages:
1) Each community that is engaged in the 2Strings Program starts with the 1 hour personal reflections within their community a week before their 4 hour program. The 1 hour program starts with 30 minutes of each individual answering the questions in a quiet place, and followed by small group discussions.
2) Our 4 Hour Program is built by a research based understanding of the development of empathy. The program is broken up into sections of adversity, experience and connection - structured as a workout, meal and then conversation. At all 2Strings events we emphasize a no phones environment. Each event participant receives a 2Strings bracelet with a ceremonial understanding at the of the 4 hours.
3) The 2Strings Program ends with an in-community debrief a week after the 4 Hour Program. Here we share within our community what we took away from our participation in the 2Strings event. We also emphasize the tools at our disposal for continuation with 2Strings whether it be through daily habits, deeper reflections or continued communication with our partner from the 4 Hour Program.

4 Daily 2Strings Habits:
1) Attention: Set your phone aside for your first and last 20 minutes of the day.
2) Intention: Set limits for yourself to 15 minutes on each social media application.
3) Education: Read an article or a chapter of a book.
4) Appreciation: Keep a journal where you write a person you are grateful for each evening (and take the time to tell them!).
Why? These four habits structured in a morning, day, evening format are actionable ways to shift our feedback based judgment culture and develop in its place education and understanding of others.
